Adomex grows to 12.000 m2 cooling system
25 september 2019 — ““About 8 years ago, Adomex moved to another location in Rijnsburg and Naaldwijk and we had new cooling cells built there. In the following years the necessary expansions of the cold stores took place, taken care of by Air Clima», said Sieto Hoogkamp, who started at Adomex in 2007 as Supply Chain Manager and currently as Manager Operations. He is responsible for all projects and operations that take place within the company, being four Adomex locations. This year we decided to expand the cooling units in Rijnsburg and Naaldwijk, making sure everything ran smoothly.
“After a period of comparing various quotations from different cooling installation suppliers, I ended up at Air Clima again,” says Sieto. The cooling units in Rijnsburg and Naaldwijk were expanded and the technology renewed.
After that, they replaced the installation in Aalsmeer. The total surface of the cooling units of all four locations now covers approximately 12,000 m2. “All of this is the result of the steps we are taking in our logistics professionalization process. With the extra cooling capacity, we are certainly well prepared for this, ”continues Sieto Hoogkamp.
““In doing so, we have made significant progress in saving energy,” he continues. “Today there are many different ‘refrigerants’ that are supposed to be sustainable. However, after extensive research and analysis of all principles, we have chosen the synthetic refrigerant R513a together with Air Clima. This might not seem the most sustainable choice, but by applying 2-stage hypothermia and very low condensing pressures, the energy efficiency turns out to be up to 40% higher than a transcritical CO2 or NH3 installation. Moreover, such low operating pressures and low discharge gas temperatures cause very little stress on the components and leakage is virtually impossible. That is why this solution is the most sustainable for us. »
